Hearing on Hagerman Canal water wells to be canceled
Local attorney Paul Eaton said a state engineer hearing on Hagerman Canal Company’s plan to drill 10 wells from South Springs to Hagerman’s edge will be halted by an injunction filed by Roswell Water Users Association and Carlsbad Irrigation District. The protestants claim the company lacks land ownership rights and the matter will go to Santa Fe court first. If resolved against the canal, the engineer will not hear the application.
