Lt. Gov. Robert Ferguson says a meeting of state legislators will be set soon to back southeastern ranchers in the antelope fence dispute. Rep. Phelps Anderson will introduce a Joint House Memorial condemning BLM actions amid protests over a plan to modify range fences on federal lands to ease antelope passage. The proposal would place the bottom wire at 16 inches, which ranchers say would invite predators and aid livestock strays and could violate state fencing laws.
