County OK to detain juveniles with oversight

Chaves County can continue to detain juveniles at the county jail as long as it pursues juvenile detention solutions and agrees to monthly inspections. The decision was announced at a county commission meeting by Jamie Katz, chief of Standards and Inspections.

Rainwater Wins BLM Grazing Rights Victory in New Mexico

Ralph Rainwater of southwestern New Mexico secures an agreed judgment against the Bureau of Land Management. The ruling requires BLM consultation with Rainwater and the state Land Office before decisions affecting mixed land ownership. He will pay $1,500 back grazing fees to June 1979, then standard rates, and a 10-year grazing permit is ordered if conditions stay normal.
