Police Training Set For RETC At Roswell Center
Officials of Thiokol Chemical Corp announce a contract to provide a police training program at Roswell Employment Training Center. A two month course for 40 officers from Indian reservations nationwide begins March 3 under a Bureau of Indian Affairs Law and Order Branch agreement. The program aims to prototype future courses with classes in physical training firearms procedure first aid and investigation methods. Center manager Rod M. Starkey says enrollment will rise to about 340. The RETC operates under BIA contracts offering academic vocational and social training to American Indians nationwide.

39 Die in Ariana Afghan Airlines Plane Crash South of London
An Ariana Afghan Airways Boeing 727 crashed in fog south of London on a Kabul to Gatwick run killing 39 aboard and possibly residents of a nearby farmhouse. Of 45 passengers and nine crew, 15 were rescued. Firemen and ambulances swarmed the site as police sealed the area and casualties spread across a wide zone.
