Seek to Carve Out Tax Program Which Will Please GOP

Washington reports that Secretary Humphrey and Rep. Reed opened talks to craft a tax program to unite Republicans for 1954. 18 Cases Handled In Police Court

The first degree murder trial of Joseph Kuykendall in Omaha nears its sixth week. The Arizona horseman is accused of killing his bride Ardath Kuykendall, heiress to a multi million dollar trust, last June 18 at their trailer near Ak Sar Ben. Witnesses describe Kuykendall in a daze during the afternoon, with prosecutors focusing on his account as defense argues illness and other factors in Ardath's death.

Artesia Students To Appear With All-State Band

Ten Artesia music students were chosen to join the All-State Band at the New Mexico Music Educators Association clinic in Las Cruces January 28 to 30. Prison Farm Escapee Captured in Belen

A 26 year old escapee from the Las Lunas Prison Farm was captured early today in Belen hours after walking away from the farm last night. Leland Burkes offered no resistance and was taken by State Policemen Don Hammond and Andy Argeanas. He was found on foot at the time of capture.
