John B. Platero, 23, of Smith Lake, died yesterday after being struck by a car on U S Highway 66 west of here. State Police said Mary Pack, 21, of Bicknell Indiana, was driving but cleared of blame. Platero reportedly stood in the highway hitchhiking when hit.
