In Denver at St Elizabeths Church Father Leo Heinerichs was shot dead before a large crowd by Giuseppe Guarnaccio who fled but was captured. Guarnaccio claimed anarchist motives and said priests are enemies of the people. The killer, Sicilian born, 56, had a history of socialist leanings and planned further killings. Father Leo, a German native born 1867, will be interred in Paterson New Jersey per Franciscan order.
