Feeders claim a grain squeeze raises prices and threatens farm feed lots. They seek CCC grain at near support prices, citing No 2 yellow corn at 2.15 to 2.40 per 100 pounds delivered, vs current 2.65 to 3.00. They plan to present findings to Agriculture officials and emphasize stable grain supply for permanent farming.
An armed robbery suspect from Post Texas fled on foot four miles through mesquite and grass burrs after a drive-in theater holdup. Jacob Joe Mitchell, 25, lost his shoes and dropped a pistol before surrendering to Hobbs police with Edward Ray Baker, 19. Police recovered $205.35 and theater passes.
Lordsburg authorities report suspect Martin Vaughn, 33, waived extradition from Midland Texas to face murder charges in the brutal death of Amos Burgess, a traveling mechanic. The case includes the rape of Burgess’s wife and a nationwide manhunt aided by FBI, sheriff, and state police.

Marguerite M. Klein a 27 year old teacher and explorer from Chase Maryland joined a National Speleological Society expedition into Crystal Cave a 53 mile underground system. She was brought out after an asthma attack and vertigo with help from Samuel Loyd and Joe Lawrence to navigate the 1600 foot crawlway and Bottomless Pit. Other explorers including Ned Feder and Thomas Barr noted rare formations moon milk and helictites in the cave walls.
Dele gates to the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Rocky Mountain states section will hear that future oil exploration in the area is unlimited. Max L. Krueger of Laramie Wyoming will deliver the keynote predicting boundless prospects.
