Kansas City reports state that Dr Bennett Clark Hyde was formally charged with murder in the first degree for Colonel Swope’s death. Virgil Conkling, county prosecutor, anticipated a warrant and advised Hyde’s voluntary appearance at four o clock. A special grand jury will investigate the Swope deaths and typhoid epidemic as part of the inquiry.
