Miss May Cooper aged 30 died at 10 o clock Sunday morning at 108 East Bland Street. She was brought here months ago by her brother and aunt seeking care for tuberculosis. Sam Huckaby appeared before Justice A J Welter at the courthouse this morning on a charge of killing J L Beard. He waived preliminary examination, bond set at 5000 to secure next district court term, and will return to family near Dexter with W W Gatewood named to conduct the defense.
The First National Bank of Brooklyn, closed October 25 last, re-opened for business today in New York. The deficiency of 165 000 dollars has been made good by the stockholders.
A cigarette stub caused a rear fire at Jewett bowling alley discovered at six on Sunday morning. The Roswell Fire Department contained the blaze with chemical extinguishers, preventing water damage. Secretary Taft arrived in Kansas City for conferences receptions and entertainment. He was joined by about fifty Missouri Republicans and met delegates from Nebraska Kansas Oklahoma and Texas. tonight he attends a banquet hosted by the Association of Young Republicans of Missouri.
Washington February 15 Senator Burnham of New Hampshire introduced a measure in Congress to establish rural delivery parcels post. Endorsed by President Roosevelt and the Postmaster General, it sets a five cent rate for the first pound and no charge for each additional pound. Only merchants on rural routes and residents on those routes may use the service, excluding big city mail order houses.
