Radio and TV Libel Bill Heads to Senate Action

In Santa Fe a bill by Sen. Calvin Horn to shield radio and television stations from libel suits when a defamatory remark is uttered by a nonemployee moves to the president for action this week. Evacuation of Tachens Under U S 7th Fleet Firefight

U S carrier planes faced anti aircraft fire from Red guns as 40 000 Nationalist soldiers and civilians began evacuation from the Tachens with help from U S Marines. The 7th Fleet reported no enemy contacts as explosions were seen north at Yikiangshan amid mine clearance and aerial patrols.

Oil Field Accident Fatality in Lovington Area

In Lovington an inquest into the oil field accident that killed Bill Vardiman, 40, and injured Allen Whiteley, 40, is held. The incident occurred at a Cactus Drilling Co. site 22 miles northwest of Mallamar in Chaves County. Whiteley was treated and walked from a doctor’s office.
