AEC to Investigate Deaths of Animals

Three Southern County Towns Oppose Action

Voters in 12 of 16 precincts back 300000 bond for Eastern New Mexico Medical Center by about 2059 to 928. A companion 34 mill levy to fund indigent care passes 1920 to 1206. Roswell area precincts lead support while Dexter Hagerman Lake Arthur Chaves Frazier oppose both measures. Turnout nears 3 000, setting county records for bond elections.

Municipal voters approve issues in three state cities

In Santa Fe voters approved a 380000 airport improvement bond by about two to one with 1025 for and 600 against and a separate admin building vote as 1030 to 603. Also approved runways 1030 to 603. In Roswell a 300000 bond for Eastern New Mexico Medical Center and a 34 mill indigent care levy passed 2046 to 906 and 1905 to 1180 with seven precincts out. Truth or Consequences residents approved switching to a city manager form 1042 to 332.

Lions Club Raises 1056 for MOD in Barrel of Dimes

Mid Day Lions collected 1056.76 dollars in the Barrel of Dimes drive. Louis Cox reported at the club meeting. Deputy District Governor Brad Hays welcomed new members Doug Galassini and Bill Clark. A Junior High girls duet sang as Celeste Rowe accompanied the performance. Mary Ann Craig and Susan Garretson sang. Mrs. T. H. Ferguson spoke on the Heart Fund campaign starting in February. Guests M. N. Morton and Burl Wilkerson of Roswell attended.
