In Lansing Michigan on December 27 Elbert Cocklin a stone mason was shot to death by his brother Melvin over a property dispute. Mrs Elbert Cocklin fled the house as Melvin fired at her injuring her slightly. Melvin Cocklin is under arrest and described as insane.
Wm C Anderson a former assistant paying teller at First National Bank admitted embezzling $9000. He pled guilty in criminal court and received four years in the penitentiary. Anderson, who had 18 years at the bank, disappeared December 1 and was arrested in Austin Texas. Most stolen funds were recovered and he deeded his home to cover the loss. He and his family faced questions from Judge Wofford.
The Russian consul in Liverpool Col Degenmann was found shot dead in his bed this morning. A 24 per cent discount on holiday books and Bibles was advertised by Ingersolls' Book Store with a New Year reminder to remember friends.
