The Coliseum Bowling Alley reserves two alleys for ladies each afternoon and will dedicate all six alleys to ladies on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting January first. Other times ladies receive special attention.
The New Mexico Military Institute reports cadets leaving on last night’s train for the Christmas holidays. E W Bertner from Colorado City Texas CG HO Watchins and J W Brown are listed among those departing. Cadet WW R Curtis left yesterday morning for Amarillo to spend Christmas at home.
Mr. Brock, connected with Brock Rank in Chicago, left last evening for St Joseph Missouri for several months for the benefit of his health. He was greatly benefited by his stay here and will likely return.
C J Franks of Hollingsworth and Frank left for Shreveport Iowa with a cut of mules to dispose of in the city and notes prices for mules are much lower than a few months ago.
J H Fox the well driller visited yesterday. He operates two outfits at Waskom four miles east and one for Mr. Ferguson Cumberland City man nine miles south.
Santa Claus will please remember Wallace and Son as headquarters for candies nuts oranges figs and dates. William Tipton and wife left for Carlsbad to spend Christmas with relatives. The city council chaired by Mayor Lea announced standing committees, confirmed appointments including City Attorney G A Richardson and Street Foreman J B Pinson, and ordered a telephone for the Pound Master and stones at city corners. The Roswell RECORD named official city paper as executive session followed. next meeting set for Saturday at 3 PM in Texas block room 19.

In heavy fog the steamer Erastus Corning, with thirty passengers and freight, struck rocks off Copps Island near Norwalk harbor and sank. Passengers and crew escaped safely. News from South Norwalk, Conn, dated December 24.
The Dreyfus commission unanimously urged a revision of the case by the criminal branch of the court cassation. The court is to assemble next month to hear the matter. Miss Doyle Smith of Artesia Texas visiting Simmons College at Abilene will spend holidays at home after a Roswell visit yesterday. She was joined by Miss Kate Grambling of Ruston Louisiana on her trip, Grambling's first Roswell visit and she enjoyed the city.
Carper and Son completed a well for Mr JJ W Lewis of South Hill reaching 170 feet. They have begun another well for R S Hamilton on Missouri Avenue planned to reach 240 feet.
Schools close at noon today for Christmas holidays and will reopen January 4 at the regular hour. A holiday wish is sent to all teachers and pupils for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from J. F. Stilwell.
