City Council Meets Chooses Officials and Committees

The city council chaired by Mayor Lea announced standing committees, confirmed appointments including City Attorney G A Richardson and Street Foreman J B Pinson, and ordered a telephone for the Pound Master and stones at city corners. Salvation Army To Feed Needy In Roswell Tomorrow

The Salvation Army prepares more than four hundred meals for the poor with boxes of poultry beef potatoes apples and canned goods to be distributed tomorrow. A Christmas turkey dinner will be served at the hall from noon to two and all in need are invited.

Steamer Erastus Corning Wrecked in Thick Fog Near Norwalk

In heavy fog the steamer Erastus Corning, with thirty passengers and freight, struck rocks off Copps Island near Norwalk harbor and sank. Passengers and crew escaped safely. News from South Norwalk, Conn, dated December 24.

Dreyfus Case to Be Revised by French Cassation Court

The Dreyfus commission unanimously urged a revision of the case by the criminal branch of the court cassation. The court is to assemble next month to hear the matter. Miss Doyle Smith of Artesia Texas visiting Simmons College at Abilene will spend holidays at home after a Roswell visit yesterday. She was joined by Miss Kate Grambling of Ruston Louisiana on her trip, Grambling's first Roswell visit and she enjoyed the city.
