Foreign adoptions drop 27 percent nationwide
U S adoptions from abroad fell 27 percent in fiscal 2009 to 12 753 the lowest since 1996. China Russia and Guatemala saw steep declines while Ethiopia rose to 2277 adoptions. Advocates urge Congress to expand State Department authority via the Families for Orphans Act.

Graveside rites for Helen B. Greene at Hagerman Cemetery
Graveside services for 91 year old Helen Bernice Greene will be held at Hagerman Cemetery at 1 p.m. Friday December 18 2009 with President Jeffrey Van Slyke officiating. She died December 15 2009 born January 3 1918 in Greenfield to Charles Lathrop and Mabel Bishop. She was a devout Latter day Saint and a loving grandmother and mother survived by two daughters Linda Greene and Carolyn Long and her husband Raymond of Salem Utah one son Stephen Greene and his wife Jody of Newcastle Wyoming seven grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Crematory.
