Solar Centers Open Power New Mexico Town
NextEra Energy opened two solar centers off Pine Lodge and Wrangler roads, the largest in New Mexico, generating 140 megawatts from about 600000 panels to power 40000 homes. The plants sell electricity under 25 year contracts to Xcel Energy, reducing CO2 emissions by 310000 tons annually compared to fossil fuels. The project involved about 200000 spent on a middle school physics curriculum, with county and school district gains seen from continued development.
