Groceries Fruits and Vegetables line the ad with items like lamb chops veal spare ribs steaks turkeys dressed chickens and channel cats and halibut. It also promotes Baltimore oysters with condiments and notes a simple selection process for dinner.
Judge Wm. H. Pope overruled a new trial motion and sentenced Robert E. Nix and Jesus Valverde of El Paso to 15 and 6 months respectively for conspiring to illegally bring Chinese into the United States at Juarez. Both to serve federal prison time at Santa Fe. appeals filed. Pope also fined Santa Fe railroad $100 and costs for violating the 28 hour livestock law with goats long on a train.
A special train in Chihuahua loaded with a hundred soldiers heads for Juarez while reports say General Hernandez ordered cautious reinforcement timing. Revolt forces near Cerro Prieto and Rancho Santiago grow, with 150 Federal troops arriving. Hernandez denies Navarro executing anti revolutionists after Sunday clash. There was no fighting today.

In Washington on December 16 a 27 to 27 tie defeated a motion to strike out the French pollation claims from the omnibus claims bill. Vice President Sherman was absent causing no breaking of the tie. Rep. McLachlan denounced Chairman Tawney for supporting suppression of War Department reports on military unpreparedness. Labor Commissioner Neill left for Chicago to mediate the dispute between western railroads and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. A Democratic caucus is set for January 19 on the House floor, and Ways and Means committee plans to select members for a tariff bill for the next congress.
Mrs. T. C. Stewart promotes a home made white and black fruit cake for sale at Joyce Pruit's store for Christmas. Proceeds or details about the sale are not provided.

District court occupied most of today with the civil case of John R. Stanley versus J. H. Hunter proceeding before the jurists.

Federal court in Carlsbad, Eddy county, heard cases seeking to deport two Chinese men for alleged illegal entry. Judge Pope allowed the cases to remain open for thirty days while Capt. K P Bujac seeks two affidavits for his defense. R L Graves returned from King where he defended George Eversmeyer, charged with stealing a five dollar gold piece. Eversmeyer was discharged due to weak evidence.
