Ten men are trapped in Lyden Coal Company shaft No 2 near Denver after an explosion started a fire ash and gas fill. Rescue teams abandoned shaft No 1 and await government mine rescue car from Trinidad. Riots and police injuries accompany the strike atmosphere.
In Chicago today a clash between striking garment workers and police left one worker dead and another wounded. Non-union tailors employed by B. Kuppenheimer & Company were escorted to the shop amid street violence and injuries on both sides.
