Judd Captured by Yuma Officers in Desert Escape

Winnie Ruth Judd, the Arizona hospital escapee and alleged murderess, was found on Yuma's main street after a trek across desert. She tearfully told how she walked about 180 miles toward Phoenix, admitted her identity, and pleaded not to be sent back to the hospital.

Cadets Leave Today for Holidays from Roswell Institute

Cadets from N M M I depart for Christmas furlough across 39 states and eight foreign countries. Twenty seven Roswell attendees join the Institute. furlough ends January 8 with classes resuming January 9. Travel by train, bus, and air from Albuquerque and Amanilis, with 164 cadets aboard the Santa Fe train bound for Clovis at 10 am.

H M Dow Returns From Oil Meeting In New Orleans

H M Dow arrived in Roswell after representing New Mexico at a meeting of oil producing state officials in New Orleans. He traveled aboard a Humble Oil Company plane that also carried Morgan Davis of Humble Company. The pilot then returned to Houston.

Vaughn Mayor Shot Dead in Hot Springs Apartment

Vaughn New Mexico mayor Dr G A Miller 56 was found shot to death in an apartment he shared with Mrs Miller in Hot Springs. A shotgun lay beside the body and an inquest is led by Peace Justice L V Waltz. Survivors include his widow two children and several siblings. Garner Will Declare Candidacy, Garland Says

Dallas report states E. B. Germany claims Garner will seek the Democratic nomination regardless of Roosevelt’s third term plans. Four Arrested in Ochoa Death in Los Angeles

Four persons were arrested by sheriff's deputies investigating the death of Jovita Ochoa 27 whose mangled body was found on a railroad track. They include Jesus Pena 29 held as a material witness and others Manuel Gomez 49 Maria Rosales 45 and Henrietta Mortega 3 as part of questioning. New Mexico Gas Tax Exemption For 25 Gallons Proclaimed

Attorney General Filo Sedillo ruled that any trucker or motorist who can traverse New Mexico on 25 gallons of gasoline without buying en route is exempt from the state motor fuel tax. The 25 gallon limit applies to all vehicles entering the state and covers fuel already in tanks as well as any purchases within New Mexico. The ruling states the exemption applies to both commercial and pleasure vehicles.
