George Ball in Roswell praised the local Chamber of Commerce and residents for outstanding cooperation in establishing the CCC camp and securing park land in New Mexico. He thanked Roswell for help during construction and urged continued support for ongoing park development.
Col Charles A Lindbergh decided to fly into Brazil interior to Manaos tomorrow. He aims to reach Manaos over 80 miles inland along the Amazon river then depart Monday to return to the United States via Trinidad Puerto Rico and Miami. He may fly overland homeward or return by sea along the Amazon.
About 3,500 youngsters greeted Santa on Main Street with a festive procession, aided by 1,500 children at the Yucca and Princess theatres morning shows. Thousands of candy boxes were handed out, ensuring candy for every child as cars lined Albuquerque Avenue toward the hospital.

The couple married thirteen years ago and were long seen as cinema s golden pair. The filing paints Fairbanks as lacking consideration and causing Pickford embarrassment and humiliation.

Prison authorities say Heriberto Alaniz, 30, hanged himself with a belt in his cell at the Juarez county jail around 8 am. He had told federal officials that rum runners bribed Juarez customs officers to permit liquor departures during a Rio Grande gun battle that killed Border Patrol officer Daynee Melton and two smugglers. Sheriff Fox cited fear of retribution as the motive after Alaniz’s statements."}
Albuquerque, N M December 9 AP The old town jail is being torn down under ciny works administration to clear right of way for a highway project from west Central Avenue to the old town bridge. Built 1884 to 1890 and abandoned in 1925 the jail has a storied past with hangings in the yard drawing mention of its colorful notoriety.
In Gallup New Mexico Martha Roberts and several NMU leaders made repeated trips to the Arizona state line and back while the National Guard monitored the area. Military authorities say there is no clear sign of renewed agitation though the NMU leaders declined to comment.
AP reports Hiram Dow of Roswell was named to succeed United States Senator Carl Hatch as a member of the New Mexico State Bar Commission. The panel met to choose Hatch’s successor and handle routine business with Edwin Holt of Las Cruces presiding and members Alvin White, W. G. Hayden, Herbert Gerhart, C. M. Botts, and Charles Fowler in attendance.
Charles Winterburn and Ray Hulen, assistants to Glen S. Pop Warner, arrived this afternoon and will spend the night with Capt. R. R. Brown, a personal friend of Warner. Warner is now coach at Temple University.
Judge James B. McGhee sentenced J Eugene Trugello to 12 to 20 years in the state penitentiary after a guilty plea to assault with intent to kill. Pablo Calderon received a 6 to 10 year term for manslaughter in district court here. A civil jury heard J D Her ring vs Paul G Morris for damages of 2075 dollars in the same session.
Washington December 9 The Civil Works Administration allocates 14000 for improvements at the Dexter NM fish hatchery. The project, under the Federal Bureau of Fisheries, will be administered by Margaret Reeves New Mexico civil works director and is expected to provide jobs for 86 men.
Four more home loans were closed yesterday through the Roswell office of the Federal Home Loan Corporation totaling 14 627 96. Of this amount 306 55 covered assessments 910 27 taxes and 476 repairs. The remainder was in bonds accepted by mortgage holders in payment of the mortgages. This brings the three day total to ten loans closed through the Roswell office.
Emory and Henry College defeated Richmond 90 to 13 in the final football score. Tennessee University lost to LSU 0 in a separate game. Salida defeated Loveland 6 to 0 in the first period.
Las Cruces merchants back Governor Hockienhall's statewide jubilee plan with December 22 set for the celebration. Nearby communities join in the event with plans for a Christmas tree party and various entertainment.
Albuquerque becomes the sales and distributing hub for lumber from New Mexico, northern Arizona and southern Colorado after the Arizona New Mexico Lumber and Timber Products Sales and Distribution Authority forms. W P Marsh, now based in Albuquerque from McNary Arizona, will represent nine principal area producers. The new firm is capitalized at 45 shares with 2000 dollars paid in. Incorporators include George W York George E Breece and T P Gallagher.
