Federal appeals court upholds TikTok sale or ban law
A unanimous panel of the U S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected TikTok and ByteDance challenges to a federal law requiring a sale or divestiture or a ban in the United States. The ruling upholds the statute aimed at curbing Chinese influence and data access, with a potential ban date set for January 19, 2025. The decision is likely to be appealed to the Supreme Court.
