Four survivors from the tug Tyee wreck off Tillamook Bar were hospitalized in Astoria, Oregon. Capt Henry Hubble chief engineer Neil Logue assistant engineer George Thorburg and mate Evan Campbell, all of Hoquiam Washington, reported that deckhand John Henderson and cook Julius Long perished after about three hours in the sea as the coast guard Onondaga rescued the others. The bodies of the two men were not recovered. The Onondaga found survivors in a 15 foot work boat six miles north of the sinking site.

Mother Slays Three Children in Dayton Farm Death
Dayton authorities ruled the deaths of three children and their 28-year-old mother a murder suicide. Mrs Dorothy Alice Crouse shot each child Curtis Neal 3 Gene Everett 4 and Viola Ann 6 with a 22 caliber pistol in their West Dayton farm home. A note near the mother stated I cannot stay here longer.
