Washington December 7 AP President Hoover introduced a bill to slash pensions compensation and allowances for World War veterans by about 12766 000 a year attaching the proposal to his budget message and warning that passage would be tied to a balanced 1934 budget. The plan limits benefits to specific income levels for those under 65 and not disabled while instituting a 400 per dependent allowance and a six month cutoff for non qualifying veterans. Income tax data would be used to verify eligibility and disability payments would end for non totally disabled after three months.

A two year old child gave warning cries that likely saved the Baker family of Roswell from a fatal fire last night. The Bakers, residents near the 700 block of South Sunset, were staying at the home when the blaze started.
