Santa Fe New Mexico reports the 1933 livestock rates were cut from 25 cents to up to $15 in some classes, grazing rates unchanged. Seven grazing classes A through G set by the tax commission fix per acre assessments and cow-to-acre capacities, with reductions shown for cattle, sheep, goats, horses, and swine across many categories.
Las Cruces New Mexico AP reports two Cambray cowboys, Robert Works and Marion Sanders, were sentenced by District Judge Numa Frenger to four and two years respectively for assault with deadly weapons on rancher Frank Burris Jr. The clash occurred a year ago at a Cambray water hole. Works and Sanders were shot during the quarrel and Burris was beaten.
The 2.75 percent beer and wine tax bill, drafted by Chairman Collier, sets a beer content basis and imposes a $50 per barrel tax plus 20 cents per gallon on natural grape wines. Prager Miller a member of the State tax commission and Progressive nominee for governor escaped injury in a crash on the Albuquerque Santa Fe highway. He said a man stepped into the road and swung a flashlight as his car neared three parked trucks, causing a swerve that left his car badly damaged and nearly rolling over a steep embankment.
Denver reports heavy snow from clear skies earlier in the week as a general storm moves south from Wyoming into northern Colorado. Temperatures plunge sharply with Cheyenne down 32 degrees in 24 hours and Yellowstone at near freezing. Snow extends to Castle Rock and Colorado Springs with cold, cloudy conditions in Pueblo and the Arkansas valley.
The federal court jury returned a verdict for V. H. Mec Nutt against the United States Potash Company for 238,666 dollars plus costs for services from 1927 to 1930. Attorneys said the case would be appealed to the circuit court. The panel deliberated about four hours after Judge Neblett’s instructions.

Will Purdy of Purdy Furniture ran a free want ad in The Record seeking tall crutches for a destitute man with a broken hip. Eight offers came in, but Purdy decided to remove the ad while praising Roswell residents for their quick, kind response. An old man woke able to move, not bedridden, thanks to local generosity and the town’s habit of reading want ads.
About 3,009 demonstrators moved through Washington near the Capitol under guard. Led by Herbert Benjamin of Chicago and William Reynolds of Detroit, the hunger marchers carried banners demanding unemployment insurance and $50 in immediate federal relief. A legal representative, David Levinson of Philadelphia, announced a delegation would arrive within an hour as Speaker Garner quipped over garbled names.

Mrs D Y Tomlinson of Roswell died at 1:40 last night at her daughter Mrs J P White Sr home after a long illness. She was born in Yorktown Texas October 39 1854 and married D Y Tomlinson in Austin in 1877. She was the last charter member of Roswell Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a Methodist. Funeral 2:30 tomorrow at the White home 200 North Lea Avenue with Rev LeRoy Thompson officiating. Burial at South Park. Eastern Star in charge at the grave. Pallbearers listed. Survivors include daughter Mrs J P White Sr son D Y Tomlinson Jr two brothers and two sisters.
Salt Lake City December discussions on reclamation and defense of federal policy opened the Western Governors conference. A group of 12 reclamation supporters formed the national reclamation association to resist opposition, with plans to present its activities to the governors, likely occupying the entire day.
Five masked robbers ambushed a mail carrier and guard in the shadow of the main post office at Adams and Clark street and escaped with mail sacks. Police pursued the suspects as details of the heist emerged, with authorities seeking leads on the stolen mail and valuables.
Tax collections in Chaves county for the month of November amounted to $118,003.45. Most of this was for the first half of 1932 taxes. The total county receipts for November, including the tax collections, amounted to $119,958.42.
