Bingaman urges Babbitt to extend royalty rate plan
Sen Jeff Bingaman urges Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt to extend the Bureau of Land Management royalty rate reduction for small oil and gas producers using stripper wells on federal lands. The program, created in 1992 to help producers with under 15 barrels a day, expires this year and Babbitt will decide in January on a five year extension or termination. Bingaman calls the program a tremendous success.
