Bands of Hungarian freedom fighters, well armed, strike by night and inflict heavy Soviet casualties in southern Hungary. Reports from Budapest say remnants of the anti Soviet revolt are centered in wooded regions around Pecs near Hungary uranium mines.
The Friday–Sunday weekend traffic toll rose to 354 for the year with four more deaths. A Cimarron youth, 18, William Max Harper, died in a one car crash 22 miles south of Cimarron on State Road 21. Also killed were Ellen Burnside, 36, of Houdi Arizona, in a two car collision on US Route 66 near Gallup, Elias Atencio, 20, of Grants in a three car crash on US 66 near Thoreau, and Rev. Wash Williams, 46, of Albuquerque in a one car crash on State Road 44 north of Cuba.
President Eisenhower and Secretary of State Dulles, returning from convalescence, said peace prospects in the troubled Middle East are reasonably good. They urged unity in the North Atlantic alliance and warned of Soviet aggression while stressing UN involvement and self government for nations resisting external control.
Bids on a new multi million dollar federal office building in Albuquerque will be opened Dec. 20. The building is estimated at 6 227 300 dollars. Bids were delayed from early December after a revised lease purchase program announced November 9.

A fire labeled a mystery swept the Green Tree village office just after midnight Saturday, damaging the men's restroom storage area and destroying the restrooms, storage room, and a newly installed tile floor and painting. Estimated damage 2000 to 3000 dollars, with $1000 spent on remodeling lost. Village records were salvaged with charred edges as investigators probe the blaze.
The Hungarian government accepted Dag Hammarskjold's offer to visit Budapest but said the trip should occur at a mutually suitable later date. It rejected U.N. observers and urged both Hungary and the Soviet Union to respond by December 7 to a resolution calling for entry of U.N. observers. The government stressed sovereignty and the need for direct talks in Budapest.
Six diphtheria cases are reported in Roswell area with five detected over the weekend. Health officials assure no epidemic and urge prompt medical checks and up-to-date immunizations for children as 105 shots were given to preschoolers last week.

Regimental parade awarded streamers to the guidon as part of the Morri son Trophy race with Companies B and F tied on 495 points. Best Old Cadet is Sgt. Fred Q. Miller of Company C from Albuquerque. Best New Cadet is William A. Clark of Corpus Christi Texas, a member of Company B.
Santa Fe Welfare Invest igating Committee voted to repeal the Relatives Responsibility Law of 1955 and to abolish the State Health and Welfare Departments for a new Department of Public Assistance and Public Health and Welfare. The panel urged funding all public assistance from the general fund and noted it had spent most of its $61,250 appropriation, with about $37,000 spent.

Texas Rangers and deputies trapped James William Whiteard and James Myers after a Oklahoma Texas pursuit that left Victor Lee Stephens dead and Junior Bard Myers mortally wounded. Whiteard confessed to shooting Myers during a brush encounter as planes dropped flares and bloodhounds hunted the pair.
