May Extend 15 Day Oil Well Shutdowns
H C Wiess of Houston told a Texas railroad commission hearing that Humble Oil and Refining Company would exhaust its crude stocks by September 1 due to the 15 day oil shutdowns. Uniform Ginning Rates Agreed For Pecos Valley

Artesia Man Hurt in Night Club Cutting Scrape
Cc O Fulton, Artesia truck driver, in serious condition at Carlsbad hospital after a cutting incident outside Petroleum Night Club near Lake Arthur. Two men, Elbert Seifres and Fred Harvey, both about 25, were arrested by Eddy and Chaves deputies and held in local jails as investigation continues. Fulton was cut in abdomen and right arm between 2 and 2:30 am. Charges against the suspects are deferred until Fulton’s recovery is known.

Mitchell Loans Plane to Take Miles to Austin
Albert K. Mitchell who opposed Gov. John E. Miles in the 1938 governor race lent his new five-passenger plane to take Miles and other New Mexico representatives to the inter-state oil compact commission meeting in Austin Texas. Pilot Bill Cutter flew from the Bell ranch to borrow the aircraft after the first plane broke down. Cutter and state geologist Andreas landed here after four p m Sunday to pick up Miles and H M Dow while the plane was to stop at Hobbs to pick up Lt Gov James M Murray. Miles spent Saturday night and most of Sunday here after dedicating the Pecos river bridge on highway 380 Saturday afternoon.
