A 1949 Chevrolet sedan jumped a curb on Riverside Drive at 6:44 last night striking a hedge chair and porch at 52 Riverside Dr. Ed Ely lives there. Driver Marcelyn Allen 31 of 501 S Fir Ave suffered a cut above the eye and was charged in Police Court with driving while intoxicated. She pleaded not guilty with a hearing set for 3:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Roswell Lt Linman Promoted After Gruenther Inspection
Roswell soldier Lt. Leland J. Linman of the Second Armored Division in Germany received a promotion to first lieutenant the day after Gen. Alfred M. Gruenther inspected his platoon reconnaissance troops in Mannheim. The inspection report appeared in Hell on Wheels, the division’s official publication.
