Roswell sheepman Martin Yrart named 2002 NMWGI Sheepman of the Year
Roswell native Martin Yrart, longtime sheep producer, received the New Mexico Wool Growers Inc. Sheepman of the Year for 2002 at the NMWGI Annual Convention in Ruidoso. He has promoted lamb at state events, fairs, and festivals, earning the nickname Official Chef of the Wool Growers. Yrart grew up on a Lincoln County ranch, studied at Arkansas State University and New Mexico State University, and married Vivian in 1951.
