Anaya to renew request for divestment
Gov. Toney Anaya will again ask the New Mexico Investment Council to divest state funds from firms doing business in South Africa at its Aug. 30 meeting. He notes one or two members who opposed in April may switch, with Land Commissioner Jim Baca and Deborah Seligman now backing an orderly divestiture. The Rainbow Coalition cites about 200 million of 2 billion in the fund in South Africa related holdings.
