Gadsden enters district race in 3A AAAAA mix
In the New Mexico 1985 preseason district poll Gadsden enters District SAAAA competition for the first time since 1976. Coach Jesus Armendarez believes Las Cruces to be a challenger while Mayfield is favored to win. Mayfield, Eldorado and Cibola lead the district, with Manzano Las Cruces and Gadsden rounding out the top group. Mayfield returns 14 starters, including quarterbacks Sal Batincourt and Mark Moziejko, as they aim to repeat a strong 8-3 finish.
