Dancer survives crash that killed Buffalo man near Taos Canyon

W William Hunter 28 of Buffalo was killed instantly when their automobile plunged 1000 feet into Taos Canyon south of Taos. Jane McLean Santa Fe dancer was critically injured after guiding him to safety and tending his wounds overnight. She was rescued by a passing motorist as dawn broke. Hunter’s body to Fargo for burial. a brother travels to assist. Authorities reported the crash occurred about 10 pm 15 miles south of Taos. the cause cited lights from an approaching car blinded Hunter.

Tragic Truck Crash Kills Four on Picnic Run

A collision near Wilmington, Delaware, between a picnic truck and a celluloose nitrate cargo truck sparked a blaze and an explosion. Confessions From Bandits Held At Dallas

Dallas, Texas Aug 21 AP Statements from suspects held in Dallas for the Urschel kidnapping were sealed for grand jury protection. Frank Blake a justice official noted several confessions were obtained from five held here and would be sent to federal authorities in Oklahoma City for the grand jury convening there Wednesday to examine the Urschel case.

Bandit Hunt Proves Fruitless in New Mexico Countryside

Local officers from Chaves Lincoln and De Baca counties spent Sunday combing the badlands between Ramon and Corona near Roswell in a 12 man posse. No bandits or hideouts were found though the area has been linked to Ed Perchmouth Stanton Glenn Hunsucker and related crimes including a deadly July 16 shooting.

Attorney Wood suspended from U S district court six months

Attorney Francis E B Wood of Albuquerque was suspended for six months from practicing in the U S district court for New Mexico. Judge Edgar S. Vaught found his letter accusing a juror of bias prejudiced Briggs and the defendant, interfered with justice, and constituted unprofessional conduct. Costs were assessed against Wood. Pioneer found strangled in Las Vegas store

Ike Davis a 67 year old Las Vegas merchant was found strangled to death in his apartment above his store. Police hold a young man for questioning as robbery is the suspected motive. Davis returned home after a brief absence and may have surprised intruders who had cut a screen door and forced entry. A coroner's jury ruled death was by strangulation with a blunt head blow. Davis came to Las Vegas in 1879 and is survived by son Walter and daughter Jeanette in Venice California.

The Roswell branch received the application blanks for home loans from the Federal Home Loan Corporation. The office is temporarily on the second floor of the courthouse with George L. Reese Jr. as district attorney and J. D. Herron Jr. as the manager, now ready to receive applications.

Texas Votes Saturday On Repeal

Austin reports Texas will vote Saturday in a state wide election to decide whether to join 22 states in repealing the eighteenth amendment or oppose repeal. Senator Morris Sheppard, author of the constitutional amendment sent to states for ratification 14 years ago, leads a vigorous campaign urging Texas to speak first against enforcing prohibition.
