New York August 18 a grand jury handed down an indictment for extortion against Philip Weinimer leader of the Building Trades strike. Weinimer is charged with extorting 2700 dollars from George Essig a plumber.
Bloom Cattle Company ships eighty seven cars of cattle from Washington's Spur to Trinidad Colorado for feeding on the company ranch. About twenty cars had been sent earlier in the week and more shipments are planned tonight and tomorrow. Each car averages about 44 cattle, at a value of $20 per head totaling around $78,000. The herd is reported in excellent condition.
Advices from Caracas state that American Minister Bowen requested Venezuela to remove Mr. Carnock, the receiver in charge of the New York and Bermudez Asphalt Co. property, and to return the asphalt lake to the American company.

St Louis reports Swiss day at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition was a success with ten thousand Swiss from Nebraska South Dakota Kansas Missouri Ohio and a large contingent from Canada present. Formal exercises occurred in Festival Hall with an elaborate musical program featuring an orchestra the big organ and a 500 voice chorus. Addresses were delivered in German English French Italian and old Roman.
Dr. Davidson the Archbishop of Canterbury sails on the Celtic for New York. He will attend the Episcopal General Convention in Boston in October and visit friends in Canada and New York before the event.
M. F. Bennett of Des Moines Iowa was pulled from the Mississippi River at St Louis after leaping from a work house escape bid. He swam to the riverbank but died. He had been told of a pardon hours earlier and claimed to be an insurance man with notable Des Moines connections.
Entertainment last night at the opera house drew a fair sized crowd. Prof. Andrew Axelson with Miss Nina Rabb offered a strong program, violin solos and vocal numbers praised as exceptional for a town Roswell’s size.
