Tragedy at Stringfellow Tannehill Store Ended in Suicide

W F Kirby shot himself in the hardware store at 6 5 in Roswell New Mexico causing a shock in the community. He had been ill and facing financial troubles though he left behind a wife and four children. A coroner's inquest found the cause of death a pistol wound born in a personal crisis.

Fight at Shelby Hotel Leaves Miller Injured

In the Shelby Hotel kitchen a confrontation between A W Wesse, a white cook, and E Miller of Amarillo Texas ended with Miller injured and jailed. Miller, intoxicated, claimed a butcher knife attack but Wesse says he only threw Miller into coal. Miller refused to identify himself. Police detained the cook as investigation continued.
