A deputy sheriff cites threats against five children found dead in an old ice box in West Memphis Arkansas. The father J A Hallman and his wife question the cause, while the coroner says suffocation from a tilted lid is probable amid rumors of foul play.
James Buster Mulcock 46 of Artesia was treated at St Marys Hospital for a bruised chest and cut lips after his 1953 Oldsmobile rear ended a 1950 Buick on Highway 285 eight miles north of Roswell. Buick driver Fred Gonzales 52 and his wife with two granddaughters suffered shock. children Cherry Tixier 7 and Vanell Tixier 4 were unhurt. Accident occurred at 5 30 p m Saturday.

A middle aged Negro was held in county jail after police raided the Flats area Sunday. Authorities planned talks with Chief Tommy Thompson and District Attorney Pat Hanagan as charges awaited. The raid followed complaints of gambling and bootlegging with reports of a craps game incident.
