State finance officials announce 1994 revenues surged 12.6 percent over the prior year, aided by a $22 million overage in corporate income tax. Gov. Bruce King calls the picture rosy as the state maintains a sizable cash balance and plans tax cuts worth nearly $190 million over three years.
Roswell Independent School District expects 11317 students across 15 elementary 4 middle and 3 high schools for the 1994-95 year. Kindergarten through 12th grade counts total 11081 with 236 additional special education and教育 students.
Roswell and other district leaders presented at the Public School Transportation Task Force meeting in Roswell outlining bus operations. Roswell Independent School District runs 57 buses for 4,000 daily miles serving 4,235 students with a $1.5 million budget and some special education buses. Other districts noted efficiency, safety needs, and road-condition challenges in Hagerman and Dexter as discussions on state to local control pilot ideas continue.

Seven inmates at Roswell Correction Center who refused to work were moved to Santa Fe for relocation after complaints of unfair treatment during disciplinary hearings. RCC warden Steve Koon said inmates only must attend active count and dress properly. Edward Garcia claimed hearings are pre-decided and staff pressure exists.
