Roping Legend Gerald Tully Keeps Glencoe’s Raider Spirit Alive
Gerald Tully, born 1903 at Fort Stanton, is a famed roping champion in Glencoe New Mexico. He won multiple titles including Roosevelt Trophy and world champion roper honors and was inducted into the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Hall of Champions in 1980. Now 98, he still recalls early mail routes through Devil’s Canyon and summers at the Hat T. Tully Ranch with decades of trophies and a life in the Hondo Valley.
