Roswell will lose its final Furrs grocery store at 2513 N. Main St. closing Friday removing all three Roswell locations. North Main staff remained on duty amid the announcement as shoppers mobbed South Main and West Second locations to buy discounted groceries.

Six Die in Grand Canyon Helicopter Crash Near Las Vegas
AP reports six people died when a helicopter carrying tourists crashed near the Grand Canyon’s western edge while another helicopter circled the wreckage. Pilot Kevin Innocenti, 27, from Henderson, Nev., and five members of a New York family perished. Shawna Daskai of Brooklyn survived with burns over 80 percent and remained in critical condition at University Medical Center.

Judge sets Nov 6 execution date for Clark
In Artesia New Mexico Judge David Bonem ruled Terry Clark competent to choose execution by injection on November 6 the first NM execution since 1960. Clark 45 admitted murder kidnapping and rape of 9 year old Dena Lynn Gore in July 1986 while his lawyers argue mental illness and incompetence. Colleen Gore Dena Lynn's mother attended as she expressed readiness to witness the event if required.
