Allied air strike targets southern Iraq in major raid
U S and British planes hit three sites in southern Iraq in the largest attack since February. The strike from USS Enterprise and land bases involved about 20 attack planes and 30 support aircraft targeting a communications center a surface to air missile site and a long range radar. Iraqi sources report one killed and 11 wounded as analysts say the action aimed to deter Iraqi air defenses and protect pilots over no fly zones.
