Pecos Valley board awards plug contract for forty artesian wells

The Pecos Valley Artesian Water Conservancy board awarded a lump sum contract of 17500 dollars to E. B. Guess of Albuquerque to plug forty leaky abandoned artesian wells in the Pecos Valley basin. Work starts immediately as the board also pursues a 75000 dollar Public Works grant to plug 150 wells.

Prohibition crackdown nets two men amid big still find

Federal officer R. L. Neal seized a 200 gallon still, 25 gallons of whiskey and 250 gallons of mash 35 miles northwest of Roswell. W. L. Pace and Dan Webb, both 30s, were arraigned on manufacture and possession charges, pleaded not guilty, and remanded to Chaves county jail on $500 bonds awaiting federal trial. Webb reportedly had prior liquor law trouble.

Three Killed in Gun Battle at Kansas City Nightclub District

Three men tied to local nightclub activity were killed in a dawn shootout on Armour Boulevard and First Avenue. Sheriff Nash and deputies fired on two assailants in a car and a third who was wounded and later died. One suspect was captured while another fled. police name the dead as Ferris J. Navajo Reserve Extension Plans Near Completion

Indian bureau officials said plans to extend outside lines of the Navajo Indian reservation in northwestern New Mexico are virtually complete and require an act of Congress to consolidate. Gov. Seligman signed four requisitions for return of men charged with crimes in New Mexico. Ralph B. McJunikins alias Jim Mack is in Oregon for murder in San Juan county. John Wilson alias Jesse Wag goner is wanted in Arkansas for burglary tools and arrested at Las Cruces. Lester Yates alias Richard Allen, a parole violator, is in Chicago from Colfax county 1918. Italian fliers reach home port in homecoming flight

General Italo Balbo and his Italian air armada completed a round trip of more than 12 000 miles to Chicago and back, arriving at Fiumeino to cheers from hundreds of thousands. Jealous husband slays wife in Lov­ing Carlsbad area

Angel Lares 22 killed his wife Maria Lares 22 in the home of her parents Jesus and Mrs Trujillo near Loving New Mexico in a fit of jealous rage. He slashed her severing the head area then tried to kill himself but was stopped by Maria’s mother. He surrendered and was jailed in Eddy county. A coroner's jury charged him with the crime and authorities said charges will be filed. Maria’s two children under two years old survive. Big Industries Under NRA Wage and Hour Rules

Four major industries electric light and power telephone canning and construction joined the NRA wage and hour program with approval from Hugh S Johnson. Over 1.5 million workers were affected immediately as employers sign the blanket agreement with their own wage and hour terms and receive the blue eagle. The administration projected 150,000 new jobs and significant payroll and purchasing power gains from these temporary agreements, bringing total to 64 in effect.
