1914 Brooklyn murder case ends as indictment dismissed
In May 1914 police found Brig. Gen. Hi ram Duryea dead in a Brooklyn mansion with his son Chester Duryea holding two pistols. Indicted for murder, Chester was ruled insane, later sane and sent to a private institution awaiting trial. With evidence vanishing and witnesses gone, the case was dismissed and Duryea begins life anew at 70.
