Roswell Seaman Edwards Balances Sea Duty and Community Ties
Eugene Edwards, longtime Roswell resident and chief steward aboard the SS Eltano, has spent 12 years at sea rising from messman to leadership of seven or eight crew members. He travels worldwide delivering relief and cargo, often away seven months at a stretch, returning home to Roswell between voyages. Edwards notes ship life varies with docking country and that crews shape a ship’s character, with the SS Eltano his favorite vessel.
