A London cable reports Nelson Morris intends to present the John Harvard home at Stratford to Harvard University. Morris warned of prejudice against American meat packers and cited canned meat troubles hurting Chicago firms.
An order from the British authorities calls for an investigation into the alleged mistreatment of Lord Douglas during detention by Portland police. The inquiry centers on the use of manacles after he provided proof of identity, claiming bruising from restraints.

Mrs. Fred C. Hunt and her young son arrived home this afternoon after a two months stay in Wichita Kansas. They were joined by Mr Hunt’s brother Earl Hunt of Fort Scott Kansas who will make his home here.
Mrs. W. S. Miller departed this afternoon for Los Angeles California. She will be joined there by Mr. Miller in about a week as he is now at Elida. The couple plans to stay three months.

Col Cuthbert Bullitt a noted Kentuckian died in Louisville at age 95. He served as collector of customs at New Orleans under Lincoln and later held various federal posts. He was famed as a celebrated beau.
Rear Admiral Charles J. Train, commander in chief of the U S Asiatic Fleet, died at Che Foo from uremia after a prolonged illness. The veteran naval officer served in key Far East commands and his death ends a long career in the Pacific theater.
U S Marshal C M Foraker and Deputy Harry Cooper arrested Joe Evans at the W E Washington ranch near Hagerman. Evans had worked there about three months and is wanted at Ryan I T for selling liquor to Indians. He admits being the sought man and is jailed awaiting transport to Indian Territory.
The town’s oldest tree, a large cottonwood on the Lea estate behind Dr. C. M. Yater’s office, was cut Thursday to let more light into the room. Capt Frank Lea claimed it was Roswell’s first tree and had seen wildlife drink by the ditch beside it. Its fall knocked a chimney off and broke Karl Snyder’s office window.
