Two Albuquerque youths held in hit and run death
Two Albuquerque youths aged 18 and 19 were jailed on August 3 as the district attorney plans to file charges over the March 24 hit and run that killed B. L. Francis in Alameda. Francis, 56, Tucumcari district supervisor of the state gasoline tax division, was found with fatal injuries on the highway. Police reported conflicting statements from the suspects and a 16-year-old sister of one, with admissions that their car struck Francis. The youths could not confirm if he was alive at impact and recalled reporting the man on the highway to a filling station before returning home to see a high school play. Their car was said to be moving about 25 miles per hour.

Dieting Proclaimed Futile by Clovis Doctor at Convention

Lost Musician Is Found In Canyon
Agapito Cortez a 24 year old saxophonist from Eli Macho New Mexico was found in Tesuque Canyon corn field near Santa Fe after a three day disappearance. He said he started on foot from Pecos seven miles north and lost his way. He was not hungry and showed no physical illness though nervous. State police planned to take him home this afternoon. A search party including mounted patrols and CCC enrollees had gone into the Sangre de Cristo mountains to locate him.
