The fourth day of rain dropped .41 inches in Roswell, bringing weekly total to 1.45 inches and monthly to 1.50 inches. Readings from Ruidoso report .55 inches on Saturday while Roswell Airport records .44 inches on Sunday.
A masked gunman robbed the Citizens Bank of Clovis Texico branch of about $3500. Bank officials said the man entered for change, returned with a gun and mask, then tied workers in the vault before fleeing.
Two people died and at least a dozen injured as wind driven forest fires swept the French Riviera. About 20,000 homes and vacationers were evacuated as fires burned through 25,000 acres of drought parched forest along the coast.

Dr. R C Gunstream district superintendent of the Nazarene Church in New Mexico died when a building washed from its foundation and crushed him during repairs at the Nazarene camp in Lincoln County. He arrived from Albuquerque Saturday and was to lead the camp opening.

A U S Air Force F105 was shot down near the Thanh Hoa bridge with the pilot listed as missing. Marines and South Vietnamese forces overran Chan Son near Da Nang, killing 25 including civilians and detaining 80 suspects.
London AP reports Patricia Neal entered an Oxford Hospital for another trial as she recovers from a triple stroke and paralysis after cerebral hemorrhage six months ago. The 39 year old actress, wife of Roald Dahl, previously endured the loss of a newborn and the death of her eldest child Olivia, amid ongoing family tragedies.
