Embassy overrun as Saigon residents seize last U.S. handout

In 1968 the six story U.S. Embassy withstood a Viet Cong assault, five Americans died defending it. Today without guards chaotic crowds swept through the abandoned complex taking belongings including a shredder and payroll records. The bronze memorial plaque was torn from the lobby.

Final shots fired as evacuation ends in Saigon

Adm. Noel Gaylor says two U.S. Navy jets attacked an antiaircraft position near Saigon marking the apparent last U.S. shots in the Vietnam War. He guided the final helicopter evacuation of 6,500 people and praised Ambassador Graham Martin for insisting on total evacuation.

Court reverses Huckleby decision in mercury fungicide case

New Mexico Court of Appeals reversed a district court ruling and sent the multimillion dollar suit against Morton International Nor Am Agricultural back to trial. The First National Bank in Albuquerque, guardian for four Huckleby children, seeks 7.5 million in damages from Golden West Seed Co. and the firms over mercury Panogen-15 poison in grain fed to hogs in 1969 Alamogordo.
