End of Indochina role as U S evacuates Saigon

U S helicopters evacuated most of 800 to 900 remaining Americans from Saigon and Tan Son Nhut as South Vietnamese crowds surged to enter the U S Embassy. Pentagon said 81 helicopters and over 800 Marines ferried evacuees to carriers in the South China Sea amid chaotic scenes.

Job hunters swell unemployment list in New Mexico

The March unemployment report shows 1,700 more job seekers in New Mexico, raising total jobless to 37,700 and the statewide rate to 8.1 percent. Albuquerque's rate hits 8.3 percent as 3,800 statewide hires occur and total labor force reaches 436,000.
