A. N. Dale, general representative in St. Louis for the Illinois Central system, retires today to become secretary of a major Chicago manufacturing company. He has served as IC’s St. Louis general manager for five years, succeeding Clarence F. Parker in coal traffic leadership. Dale is President Harahan’s son in law.
Des Moines April 30 The Iowa railroad commission opens a session to revise freight rate schedules for all roads operating in the state. The panel will continue work until a new statewide rate schedule is promulgated after recent inspections of Iowa railroads to assess their condition.
Paducah Kentucky April 30 G G Singleton former councilman and wealthy man has been cited to appear tomorrow before Judge Walter Evans in federal court at Louisville to answer a charge of contempt. The charge stems from a recent bankruptcy sale where Singleton is alleged to have attempted to deter bidders.
Miss Zaidee Gaff and Dr Cary Langhorne married at St John s Church in Washington with naval and army officers as witnesses. The ceremony was followed by a breakfast and reception at the bride s parents home on Q Street. Bridesmaids include Rachel Holmes cousin of the bride and Mary Holmes sister of the former. Dr Langhorne, son of Mr and Mrs John Langhorne, is stationed at the Naval hospital.
Senator J B Foraker will be the principal speaker at the Detroit Ohio Society banquet at the Cadillac Hotel this evening. Congressman J Adam Bede, a Buckeye native, will also address the gathering of over 250 members including Detroit's leading men.
