A packed Roswell courthouse crowd urged President Roosevelt to reject Governor Hagerman's resignation. Speakers praised his integrity and called for continued support, with a unanimous resolution sent to the President endorsing Hagerman's acts and asking him not to resign.
Citizens of Roswell in a public meeting express belief that designers misrepresented Governor Hagerman. They affirm his integrity and endorse every official act with no exception and urge that his resignation not be accepted.
Elder C. C. Hill spoke to six Roswell High graduates at the Southern Methodist church on Sunday night. The service featured city pastors, school faculty, student musicians, and a program of hymns and prayers before Hill presented the doctrine of Christian Love.
An address to graduates extolled Christian Love as the core trait shaping true character. The speaker urged cultivating love over seeking admiration for genius or achievements, arguing love makes all other qualities more valuable and lasting. Elder Hill delivered a vigorous, inspiring sermon-like commencement message.
Will Thompson and Miss Elva Rainbolt were married Saturday night at the home of the officiating minister Rev H F Vermillion with only legal witnesses present. The bride, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs L Rainbolt, is described as one of Roswell's prettiest and most lovable, while the groom works as a night linotype operator at the Daily Record. The couple will reside at 109 North Kentucky.
Amarillo beat the Military Institute team of Roswell 8 to 3 in the opening game at the new field in Amarillo. Caldwell pitched well for the Institute but received poor support as ten errors doomed the visitors. Webber allowed eight hits with two home runs by Crowell and Lowman, while Amarillo’s defense limited errors to four.

New York April 29 William Ellis Corey will likely be reelected president of United States Steel at the directors meeting to be held tomorrow. It is stated that after his election Mr Corey will marry Ma Belle Gilman next week and depart for Europe. Directors include Elbert Gary J Pierpont Morgan George W Perkins Thomas Morrison Edmund C Converse Henry Phipps James Gayley and H Rogers all reportedly favor Coreys reelection.

Johnstown Pa April 29 Seven men remain entombed in Mine No 38 of the Ber wind White Coal Company after a water surge trapped them Friday. Rescuers pump water and work to reach the miners but it may be evening before access is gained. Authorities say the fate of the trapped men is unknown.

Spring Valley April 29 John Mitchell president of the United Mine Workers was operated on today for strangulated hernia at St Margaret s hospital. The operation was successful and the patient is resting easy with no danger anticipated.
