Amarillo beat the Military Institute team of Roswell 8 to 3 in the opening game at the new field in Amarillo. Caldwell pitched well for the Institute but received poor support as ten errors doomed the visitors. Seven Men Trapped by Water in Mine No 38

Johnstown Pa April 29 Seven men remain entombed in Mine No 38 of the Ber wind White Coal Company after a water surge trapped them Friday. Rescuers pump water and work to reach the miners but it may be evening before access is gained. Authorities say the fate of the trapped men is unknown.
