First Session Of Tourist School To Be Held May 9th
The 1941 tourist school opens Friday night May 9 at the Chamber of Commerce with Joe Bursey director of the state tourist bureau as principal speaker. Three sessions follow on three consecutive Fridays at 7:30 with Col. Thomas Boles speaking at the second session and special features each time to highlight southeastern New Mexico attractions.

Fall of Athens Nears as German Troops Close In
The fall of Athens seemed imminent as a German spearhead stood a few miles from the Greek capital at nightfall amid a Balkan offensive. British rear-guards defended Athens within 25 miles while Athenians prepared for a harsher night under curfew and the march of Nazi troops through the historic city. Berlin imposed a news blackout from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. to curb premature reports of the Nazi entry.

Anderson Takes Over Purcell Well
The Frank Montgomery oil test on the Purcell permit twelve miles east of Commance Draw has been taken over by T. Anderson of Artesia. The test will drill to Sonetta sand at about two thousand feet. The well is now drilling at fifteen hundred fifteen feet and has shown some oil. It is a deeper test than any in that vicinity.

German Consuls Aided Fugitive Von Werra
Richmond, April 26. Attorney General Robert H. Jackson said he has positive evidence that German consular officers aided Bar on Franz Von Werra, the German war flier fugitive from a Canadian prison camp, to flee the United States where he was under $15 000 bond. Roswell voters will decide next year on a bond to fund a library expansion at Third and Richardson. Plans by Vorhees and Standhart call for an 82 by 22 foot rear addition, new roofing, modern heating and lighting, and a 25,000 volume stack room. The board estimates at least 25 000 to complete, with a community room excavation possible. current library opened in 1906 and serves 13 482 residents per the 1940 census.

Walton Infant Dies in Roswell Family Loss
The infant son of Sgt. and Mrs. E. D. Walton died yesterday at 3 30 pm. Sgt Walton is a U S Army recruiting officer in Roswell stationed here about a year. The family lives at 105 West Summit. Liverpool Area Victim of Air Raid
German bombers raided the Liverpool and Merseyside shipping area in a brief heavy attack. The raid lit the area with flares and dropped incendiaries and high explosives while anti aircraft batteries and searchlights fought the sky. Three deaths were reported in Liverpool with additional casualties in other Merseyside boroughs.
